L'ASSOCIATION PEDOGOGY MILITAIRE INTERNATIONALE
THE INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION FOR MILITARY PEDAGOGY
CONSTITUTION
ARTICLE I: NAME
The name of this organization is the International Association
for Military Pedagogy, or L'Association Pedagogy Militaire
Internationale with the acronym IAMP.
ARTICLE II: PURPOSE
The IAMP is an association of professionals whose studies focus
on education in the military setting and whose goals include
the dissemination of information that would assist, develop,
improve, and establish professional military institutions of
advanced learning. Academics concerned with such subjects in
civilian institutions of higher learning shall also be welcomed
to participate in the Association. This organization seeks to
accomplish its goals of improving military institutions of
learning by promoting research and publication as well as
information sharing among its membership. In order to fulfill
its purpose, the IAMP seeks to establish contacts and
relationships among military institutions of higher learning,
as well as among national and international agencies that
support, plan, and develop programs and facilitate studies of a
similar nature to the stated goals of the Association.
ARTICLE III: MEMBERSHIP
Membership in this organization is open to individuals with a
professional interest in military pedagogy, a dedication to
developing professional military institutions of advanced
learning, and/or an ability to address subject matter
supporting the intellectual development of military
professionals.
This organization shall consist of regular members, i.e., scholars or other persons with a professional or personal interest in academic subjects addressing military issues. Non-members may be invited to take part in meetings, give lectures or presentations and otherwise participate, but may not vote regarding issues before the membership.
ARTICLE IV: MANAGEMENT OF IAMP
The IAMP shall have a Board of Directors, consisting of seven
members elected at large from the general membership. The Board
shall serve for two years and exercise executive powers,
including the establishment of policy and the proposal of new
rules and amendments to this constitution. The proposed
amendments shall be offered to the general membership for
approval at the annual general meeting. The members elected to
serve on the Board of Directors shall assume specific duties,
selected by majority vote amongst themselves, to elect a
Chairman, Secretary, Auditor, and such other offices as the
Board may from time to time decide upon.
All matters of policy, determination of officers, and approval of financial disbursement, shall be decided through elections by a majority of the membership at the annual General Meeting of the Association. All representatives participating in the Foundation Conference have the right to vote for the elected officials of the AMP, as well as the right to be elected to an office. The Board of Directors may implement temporary policy changes, as required for the daily operation of the association. Amendments to the Constitution and by-laws shall require a majority vote of the membership.
The first Board of Directors has been elected at the Foundation Conference for the IAMP in Strausberg in November 2005 (also the Sixth Conference of the European Forum of Military Pedagogy).
ARTICLE V: DUES
Annual dues (15 euro/year) shall be levied against the
membership. Such remuneration to support the operation of the
Association shall be subject to an annual rate.
ARTICLE VI: AFFILIATIONS/CONTRIBUTIONS
Corporate affiliation shall be available at the discretion of
the Board of Directors, approved by majority vote. Donations,
contributions and project requests shall be considered
similarly, when offered or solicited and all such contributions
shall be attenuated for the general discharge of obligations on
behalf of this organization.
ARTICLE VII: DISSOLUTION
In the event of dissolution of the organization, all funds,
assets and properties, either real or personal, shall be
donated to a charitable institution. The intellectual property
of the organization, if such should exist, shall be given over
and held by the library a suitable institution of higher
learning for further use.
ARTICLE VIII: ENACTMENT
These by-laws shall be in force upon their acceptance by
majority vote of the assembled members in the Founding
Conference in Strausberg in November 2005: the Board of
Directors shall, as soon as practicable thereafter, cause the
organization to be incorporated as a non-profit institution in
an appropriate jurisdiction, and continue as such indefinitely.
